Armed police in Rotherham alert

ARMED police and specialist negotiators were called to Rotherham when a man threatened to hurt himself.

Officers closed off a section of Green Arbour Road from Toad Lane in Thurcroft at around 1pm on Saturday afternoon. The road was re-opened by 3pm.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

A police spokesman said a 27-year-old man was detained for mental health assessments
