Armed police called to crash scene

ARMED officers raced to a crash after reports that a firearm had been seen.

The incident involved a black Toyota Hilux and a silver road buggy on Denaby Lane, Denaby, on Saturday at about 7.30pm.

The armed police searched the area but no firearm was found.

Denaby Lane was closed but later reopened. 

Four men were arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Another man arrested in connection has been released under investigation. 

A spokesperson said: “Officers investigating believe this was a targeted incident and enquiries into the matter continue.” 

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously, quoting incident number 1076 of June 25.
