Apprentice of the Year 2022: Our search begins...

The search begins again to find the cream of the borough’s apprentices which always attracts plenty of interest among young workers and their employers.

Are you Rotherham’s best apprentice? Do you employ the town’s best apprentice?

If so, we want your nomination for our Rotherham Apprentice of the Year 2022 competition, in partnership with the Rotherham Together Partnership.

For the winners of the contest — last year’s are pictured right — there is a trophy and the prestige of being a winner on offer.

We want as many companies or individuals to nominate themselves or an employee for the awards. Once the entries are in, we will have a finals event when an independent judging panel will select the winners of the Intermediate, Advanced, Higher or Degree Level Apprentice of the Year awards.

Advertiser editor Andrew Mosley said: “This is the seventh year we have held these awards and one of the main aims is to change the traditional view of apprenticeships by promoting the achievements of some of Rotherham’s superstars of the future.

“By investing in apprenticeships employers are putting their trust in young people, who will improve our businesses, our town or wherever in the world they end up working by using the knowledge and experience they have gained.

“Rotherham has thriving manufacturing and engineering sectors that offer amazing career prospects and, from the point of view of the businesses, they get to employ eager-to-learn talented young people who are the future of those companies as well as the future of our borough.

“Each year we are astounded by the standards of the entries to this competition and this year, I’m sure, will be no different.”

The deadline for entries is Monday, July 11.

We are also looking for partners (education and training providers and employers) to promote this initiative.

For potential sponsorship partners, this year offers more weeks of promotion for their company. Benefits include association with a high-profile award, improved brand awareness in the apprentice market, the opportunity to be part of a positive initiative for young people and businesses in Rotherham, and the chance to use the awards logo on your own promotional material.
