Apprentice of the Year 2017

ARE you Rotherham’s best apprentice? Do you employ the town’s best apprentice?

If so, we want your nomination for our Rotherham Apprentice of the Year 2017 competition, in partnership with the Rotherham Business Growth Board.

For the winners of the contest, launched this week as part of National Apprenticeship Week, there’s £250 and a trophy on offer.

We want as many companies or individuals to nominate themselves or an employee for the awards over the next 15 weeks.

Once the entries are in, we will have a finals event in June when an independent judging panel will select the winners of the Apprentice of the Year and Higher Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year awards.

The tenth National Apprenticeship Week aims to bring together employers and apprentices from across England to celebrate the success of apprenticeships over the last decade and seek to encourage even more people to choose apprenticeships as a fast-track to a great career.

Advertiser editor Andrew Mosley  said: “After the success of last year’s inaugural initiative, we are now launching the second year of Rotherham Apprentice of the Year.

“We were so impressed by the quality of the entries last year and it revealed to us just how much diversity in industry and business there is in Rotherham and the variety of opportunities this creates for future generations in this town.

“We were very keen to get involved in this as it recognises the value of apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

“We want to highlight the skills young people have and how these skills can benefit not only themselves, but the company that takes them on as an apprentice and the local economy as a whole.”

The deadline for entries is Friday, May 12, and full details can be found here.

We are also looking for partners (education and training providers and employers) to promote this initiative.

For potential sponsorship partners, this year offers more weeks of promotion for their company.

Benefits include association with a new high-profile award, improved brand awareness in the apprentice market, the opportunity to be part of a positive initiative for young people and businesses in Rotherham, and the chance to use the awards logo on your own promotional material.

If you would like to become a sponsorship partner or find out more about the benefits, contact Tina Mapplebeck on 01709 768107.
