Appeal to back CSE research project

COUNCIL leader Chris Read has urged people to join in a project aimed at helping the authority tackle child sexual exploitation and shape services for victims and survivors.

A research project led by the University of Salford aims to give a better understanding of the specific services needed to prevent CSE.

Voluntary sector groups supporting survivors have already been consulted, along with other groups who work with vulnerable children and adults.

Now Cllr Read has appealed to the public to take part in an online survey on the issue.

“As we drive forward improvements in services in dealing with child sexual exploitation, it’s vital that we hear the views of people who have been directly affected,” he said.

There are two questionnaires — one for adults and one for young people aged 13 to 18 — with each taking around ten minutes to complete.

They can be found at https://salford.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/rotherhamcse and

Survivors and their families wishing to share their views can also contact the council’s support services co-ordinator, Jo Smith, at [email protected].
