Appeal launched after sex attack

POLICE are appealing for information after a 23-year-old woman was reportedly sexually assaulted.

POLICE are appealing for information after a 23-year-old woman was reportedly sexually assaulted in the Conisbrough area.

At around 10.15am yesterday, the 23-year-old was walking along Athelstane Road, when an unknown man grabbed her from behind.

He attempted to touch the woman inappropriately but she managed to break free and fell to the floor.

The man is then believed to have fled the scene.

The suspect is described as being around 6ft tall and was wearing dark clothing with a balaclava.

Det Chief Insp Chris Singleton said: “This incident has left the victim shaken and distressed. Luckily, she was not seriously injured as a result of this man's actions.”
