Appeal for witnesses to Maltby crash which left driver seriously injured

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man crashed a car into a tree in Maltby.

The 67-year-old Maltby man was travelling in a blue Skoda Octavia Scout from Tickhill to Maltby on the A631 Tickhill Road at around 11.40am yesterday (Monday), a police spokesperson said.

He is believed to have suffered a "medical episode" and driven off the road 500 yards before the entrance to Maltby Colliery before crashing into a tree, added the spokesperson.

The man he remained in a critical condition in hospital this afternoon.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or the movements of the Skoda before it left the road to contact them.
