Appeal for witnesses to Centenary Way collision

POLICE appealed for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a collision between a pedestrian and motorbike on Centenary Way.

A force spokesperson said: “At 1.36pm on Wednesday, a black and silver Suzuki Sv650 motorbike was travelling along through the centre of stationary traffic. 

“As the lights changed to green, it is believed he collided with a 49-year-old man, who was crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing from the direction of Drummond Street.”

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it sent a rapid response vehicle, ambulance and air ambulance. A spokeswoman added: “One patient was conveyed to Northern General Hospital by helicopter.”

The pedestrian suffered injuries to his legs and face and remains in a serious but stable condition today (Friday).

The motorbike rider was uninjured and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
