Appeal after woman sexually assaulted on train by 'Rotherham United fan'

POLICE are appealing for information after a woman reported being sexually assaulted by a man who was part of a group of Rotherham United fans.

British Transport Police said the woman was sexually assaulted on a train from Derby to Sheffield between 8.45pm and 9.30pm on Saturday, September 28.

The victim reported that a man, who had been part of a group of Rotherham United fans, grabbed her bottom.

Rotherham United had been playing at Bristol Rovers that day.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his mid-twenties, 5ft 9, with short blonde hair and of a stocky build, a spokesman for British Transport Police said.
 
He was wearing a beige Stone Island sweat shirt with a white t-shirt underneath and blue skinny jeans, he added.
 
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who knows the identity of the man involved, is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference number 600 of September 28.
