Appeal after man (57) seriously injured in Swallownest hit and run

POLICE are urging the driver of a BMW to come forward after a man (57) was seriously injured in a collision outside a chip shop in Swallownest.

The pedestrian was crossing Alexandra Road at 7.20pm on Thursday, October 17 when he was in a collision with a vehicle which failed to stop, a police spokeswoman said.

The incident happened outside the Aphrodite fish bar and the car is believed to have driven off towards Aughton Road, she added.

"The pedestrian, a 57-year-old man, suffered serious injuries," said the spokeswoman.

"A wing mirror we believe belonged to the vehicle was left at the scene.

"This has been identified as belonging to a BMW 3 series."

Police want to speak to any witnesses and are urging the BMW driver to come forward.
