A POOL hall will move across town after plans were filed for the leased premises to be converted into 20 apartments.
Pot8’s !formerly the Players Sports Bar and previously Rileys is set to move from Doncaster Gate to Main Street.
This is because DBG Contractors has applied to convert the upper floors into flats and divide the empty retail space into three units on the ground floor.
Plans from the firm say: “The application site is a prominent town centre plot and is highly visible having frontages along three sides.
“The proposals will allow the building to function as commercial units on the ground floor with residential apartments above.
“The existing large ground floor commercial unit is to be divided into three smaller commercial units with entrances on Howard Street and Doncaster Gate, orientated towards the town centre.
“Providing three smaller commercial units will provide a greater mix of unit sizes available to potential tenants and will ensure the viability of the site moving forward.”
DBG said the proposals currently awaiting a council decision would rejuvenate and improve the area.
The apartments plan came as a surprise to the pool club, which had invested in the place during lockdown ready to welcome back members.
But it has filed its own application to move into premises near the top of Main Street, occupying two floors.
