Another Rotherham United player out for "three to four months"

A UNNAMED Rotherham United player is facing up to four months on the sidelines, manager Paul Warne has revealed.

The Millers are keeping his identity secret as they don't want to reveal their hand to tomorrow night's Championship opponents, Nottingham Forest.

But Warne confirmed that a player who featured in last Saturday's home clash with Norwich has potentially suffered some kind of break and could be out until the New Year.

It's a savage setback for Rotherham who have already lost winger Chiedozie Ogbene until January because of knee surgery.

"We have got a serious injury," Warne said. "I don't want to say who it is because it gives a helping hand to the opposition.

"We think one of the players might have a break from an incident in the last second of the Norwich game. If that is the case, it could be three to four months.

"To lose any one of our players for four months on top of just losing Chieo for a similar period of time is a blow.

"I won't know definitively until Tuesday when he goes for a scan."

The Millers will be without centre-half Angus MacDonald at the City ground because of his red cad against the Canaries, but right-back/winger Matt Olosunde is likely to be in the squad for the first time season.

He was due to start the Norwich game but suffered a minor groin problem on the eve of the match.

"On Friday after training he had a little bit of a problem with his groin. It wasn't a massive issue," Warne said.

"We'd spent the two weeks in the international break obsessing about pressing and how hard we have to work and Matt had been excellent.

"On the Saturday morning, he got his groin re-tested. Was he 100 per cent? No. Could he guarantee he'd be flat out for the whole game? No. It just wasn't a risk worth taking.

"I've been led to believe he trained fine today and is available tomorrow. It's nothing more than his groin was just a little bit 'achey'."

Left-back Joe Mattock is back in contention after completing a spell of self-isolation.
