Crews were at the scene until 11.30pm.

The fire could be seen by witnesses in Hoyland and Wombwell and took over an hour to put out.

On July 18, South Yorkshire Fire Service warned about the dangers of the hot weather after a field caught fire in the Goldthorpe area which damaged the environment, scenery and caused harm to local wildlife.

There was also a farm fire in the Goldthorpe back in May.\!q
