Angus MacDonald on the importance of Rotherham United's derby clash at Sheffield Wednesday

The Millers have lost five successive matches by single-goal margins to slide back into the bottom three and now make the short trip to Hillsborough to face a Sheffield Wednesday side below them in the table but buoyed by the appointment of new boss Darren Moore.

MacDonald, who has enjoyed a moment of glory against the Owls in the past, declared: "It's a six-pointer, it's a massive game. Hopefully this can turn us around as we go into the last push of the season.

"The lads have got to really roll their sleeves up. We know what it's about. We can go there and get three points, I know we can.

"We've got to win the battle first and stamp our authority on the game. If we do that, our quality can come through."

The centre-half, scorer of a last-gasp equaliser for Barnsley against Wednesday at Oakwell in April 2017, is counting on Rotherham's famed team spirit to help them fight their way out of trouble.

"Definitely we're up the challenge," he said. "Everyone gets on and everyone wants to work for each other, as you can see from some of our performances.

"We have to take that into the last 15 games. Working for each other is first and foremost what we have to do and then hopefully the chances, the goals and the points will come."

The Millers head into the S6 clash shorn of numbers in central defence, with captain Richard Wood and Clark Robertson picking up injuries and Michael Ihiekwe ruled out by suspension.

Manager Paul Warne is hoping his skipper trains today and proves his fitness, but there is no guarantee the veteran defender will be available for selection.
