Almost 100 bikes stolen from Rotherham store

THIEVES made two trips to steal nearly 100 bikes after cutting through a brick wall to break into a warehouse.

They entered the JE James depot in the early hours of Sunday and filled two vans with the boxed cycles.

Store manager Jonathan Hall said: “They must have been working on the outside for some time because they have gone through a brick wall to get in.

“We had a builder down to look at the damage this morning and even he said they must have used some powerful tools and equipment in order to get through.

“They made a small hole about three feet by one-and-a-half, just big enough to squeeze through and low enough to avoid the security sensors.”

The thieves struck at the Erskine Road store between 1.40am and 4am on Sunday.

The 97 bicycles taken were Giant Talon 3s and Dahon Matrix folding bikes.
