Alexis (10) loses her locks for charity in honour of brave classmate Jude Hawkridge

A KIND-HEARTED classmate lost her locks to show her support for a brave boy battling leukaemia.

Alexis Price (10) attends Thorpe Hesley Primary School and on hearing her friend Jude Hawkridge would lose his hair through chemotherapy, began looking into how she could help.

She learned how the Little Princess Trust turns donations of long hair into wigs for cancer patients and decided to grow her hair and have the big chop at home in Kimberworth.

Alexis (pictured) has raised £740 for Manchester Children’s Hospital, where Jude has undergone treatment.

Mum Nina, of Hill View Road, Kimberworth Park, said: “With them being friends, Alexis has asked a lot of questions about what’s happened with Jude.

“We were talking about how children going through treatment often lose their hair and Alexis said: ‘I want to grow mine and donate it’.

“She was growing it out for two years and it was down to her waist - whenever we went to the hairdressers it was only for the smallest trim.”

Alexis donated 17 inches of hair to the trust.

Her mum added: “A lot of the boys have had their heads shaved but this was Alexis’s idea to help.

“She really likes it as it is now.”
