Age Concern warns against doorstep conmen

PENSIONERS have been warned against buying cheap bed linen from sellers purporting to be from Rotherham Age Concern.

A number of elderly people in Rotherham have been called on by salesmen offering discounted sheets and other items for £50.

Debbie Clarke, service coordinator for Age Concern in Rotherham, said: “People are calling on the elderly offering them discounted bedding at a price of £50 and saying they are from Age Concern.

“This is a scam. We would never sell anything in that way.

“We just don’t want to make the elderly aware of what is going on if someone calls.

“If they are unsure they should contact Age Concern or ask for identification, but they should not let them in.”
