Accident victim fights for life

A PENSIONER from Edlington suffered a life-threatening head injury and broken ribs after a road accident in Doncaster.

Police say the 81-year-old apparently stepped off the pavement onto East Laith Gate at about 3.45pm on Saturday.

She was struck by a black Honda Accord estate private hire taxi, which was reported to be reversing at the time.

The woman was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to ring the police’s witness helpline on 0114 220 2970.
