£70,000-worth of cannabis plants seized

NEARLY 300 cannabis plants worth £70,000 were discovered by police during raids in Edlington.

Electrical and growing equipment—also valued at £70,000—was found when six Staveley Street addresses were targeted.

Two of the properties were unoccupied and being used solely as cannabis factories.

Two men were arrested. Enquiries are continuing.

Sgt Richard Vernon said:”This has been a great start to the Neighbourhood Alliance project that only started a week ago.

“The project is all about dealing with local issues and tackling problems in the area.

“Our residents can be assured that we will continue to respond and act upon concerns raised to make their community a better and safer place.”

Edlington Safer Neighbourhood Team were assisted in the raids by neighbouring SNTs from Mexborough and Conisbrough and Denaby.

The factories were dismantled with the help of Doncaster Council employees. The drugs and equipment were destroyed.
