£69,000 savings hope under new cashless parking scheme
ROTHERHAM Council is hoping to save around £69,000 a year by introducing a cashless, pay-as-you-go parking scheme.
The system is to be trialled in 10 locations with the scheme being reviewed in March, according to a report presented to councillors.
Motorists woul register their vehicles and credit or debit card details with the service provided charging a nominal fee of up to 20p.

Handheld computers used by parking wardens would register which vehicles were using the system.
The system would cost £3,200 to install with savings being made from cash counting and machine maintenance costs.
