PATIENTS at a Rotherham GP practice are set to benefit from a £500,000 extension and upgrade of facilities.

On Thursday, an opening ceremony will take place at the Stag Medical Centre on Wickersley Road, Rotherham.

After nine months of building, the extension will be officially opened by chairman of NHS Rotherham, Alan Tolhurst.

Dr Gokal Muthoo, project leader said: “I would like to thank NHS Rotherham for all their help and support. I am sure our patients will very quickly experience the benefits of the improved facilities.”

As a result of this work, surgery users will have additional access to a number of services, including: physiotherapy, health and counselling provision, obesity clinics, smoking cessation, contraception and sexual health advice.

Within the new building there will be a dedicated meeting/training room which will be available for groups to book and use.
