Polly Hamilton, RMBC assistant director for culture and tourism, said: “We are thrilled to have received this support and look forward to seeing more young people become actively involved with the museum's future planning to meet their needs and interests.

“We are committed to encouraging participation from our young people and this project will deliver long-term changes to encourage them to participate and engage with their local heritage.”

The project will focus on grade II-listed Clifton Park Museum and the surrounding communities of Clifton, East Dene and Herringthorpe.

The building was constructed in 1783 for the renowned Walker family of industrial pioneers and became Rotherham’s municipal museum in 1893.
