The Pro-Yorkshire Awards are run by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and regarded as the region’s property “Oscars.”

Canklow Woods is one of several Rotherham schools fitted with eco-friendly features, including a biomass boiler and thermal mass wall.

The building project included six classrooms, an ICT resource area, library and an outdoor amphitheatre.

A total of 56 projects have been shortlisted, ranging from small-scale schemes built by the vision and persistence of one person, through to multi-million pound developments.

Judging is underway and the winners will be announced at a glittering awards dinner in Leeds on May 20.
