3,000 cannabis plants seized by police after tip-off

MORE than 3,000 cannabis plants, from seedlings to mature plants ready to crop, were seized by police from a property in Holmes following an anonymous tip-off.

Officers from Rotherham Central Neighbourhood police team were sent to the property on Belmont Street earlier this week.

A spokesperson said in a social media post: “We are committed to making Rotherham a safer place.

“At this scale, cannabis cultivations are not simply someone growing a plant for their personal use, they are big business.

“The money generated from such ventures goes on to fund organised crime, people trafficking and terrorism.

“With the help of the public, we will continue to disrupt this kind of activity.”
