£25,000 up for grabs thanks to Advertiser cash giveaway

The bumper pot of cash is now available for Advertiser readers to apply for in a bid to provide much needed assistance to Rotherham's community groups and projects.

The funding has been made available by the South Yorkshire Community Foundation through the government's Grassroots Grants programme.

Pauline Grice, chief executive of SYCF, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have teamed up with the Advertiser for this fantastic cash giveaway.

"There are so many groups in Rotherham that perform miracles every day on shoestring budgets. 

“We hope that this cash will come as great help to grassroots projects that are so vital to the local community."

Groups and projects can apply for up to £5,000 using SYCF's online full application process, while groups requiring smaller amounts of between £250 and £700 can apply through the online fast track application process.

Examples of applications include money for tools to clean up a local park, for a sports team to purchase new equipment, or to fund training costs for group members.

Pauline added: "We have funded some great groups in Rotherham that are making a real difference, and together with the Advertiser we are confident of finding even more vital community projects in need of some well deserved funding."

Through the Grassroots Grants programme, SYCF has been tasked with identifying those groups in Rotherham communities that are in the greatest need of receiving a cash boost. 

The South Yorkshire Community Foundation is a grant making organisation that helps build stronger communities by promoting local giving. 

It has been delivering grants to local communities in the area since 1986, and through the Grassroots Grants funding stream, is well placed to extend its good work further into the community.

The SYCF was the team behind the I Love Rotherham campaign and the grassroots grants giveaway is an extension to their work.

How to apply:

To apply for a slice of cash from The Rotherham Advertiser Community Cash Giveaway groups should apply online at www.sycf.org.uk/grant_campaigns. 

Applying groups must have an annual turnover of no more than £30,000, be volunteer led and be addressing a community need. 

A full set of eligibility criteria is available on the website. Applicants should read all the information available before filling in their form. 

Groups who have already used the fast track form to successfully apply for an SYCF grant in the past may only apply using SYCF's full application process.
