100 cannabis plants found in Eastwood raid

POLICE discovered more than 100 cannabis plants being grown in a house in Eastwood today (Wednesday).

Two police community support officers were investigating a report of an unsecured home on View Road, Eastwood, when they discovered the cultivation.

The property was empty and there have been no arrests, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said.

The windows of the house had been covered with plastic.

Fire crews from Rotherham and Maltby were called to the house at 12.10pm to isolate a gas leak.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said crews were at the house for around an hour before handing the incident back to the police.
