Two charged with Rotherham robbery

TWO MEN have been charged in connection with an alleged robbery and attempted robbery earlier this week.

Hassan Siddique (27), of Broom Valley Road, Rotherham, appeared before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with robbery, attempted robbery, and threatening a person with an offensive weapon.

Appearing alongside him was 27-year-old Simon Porter, of Friars Croft, Wentworth, who is charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

The charges relate to an alleged robbery at a Shell garage in Handsworth Road, Sheffield, that took place at around 10.40pm on Monday.

Around an hour later, an attempted robbery was reported to police in Wortley Road, Rotherham.

They have been remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday July 29.
