Among his achievements was a Paul Harris fellowship award, which is the greatest accolade that can be given to a Rotarian.

This was particularly for his help abroad by obtaining matching grants for impoverished areas.

Having recently retired as Chief Executive of the Druids Sheffield Friendly Society, a position he had held for 20 years, he was the only person to serve as president of the Association of Friendly Societies (AFS) twice, and was instrumental in ensuring the trade body's survival a few years ago.

More than 250 people attend a service of thanksgiving for Colin's life at Brampton Parish Church.
