Woman dies after falling from bridge on M1

A WOMAN in her 30s died at the scene after reportedly falling from a motorway bridge and being in collision with a car.

Emergency services attended the M1 southbound at junction 36 at 11.10pm on Thursday after reports of a road traffic collision involving a woman and a car.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “It is believed that a woman in her 30s had fallen from the bridge above the motorway network.

“She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

“Her family has been informed and is being supported.”

Roads policing officers are now appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage travelling in the direction at the time to come forward and assist with their enquiries.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the woman in the road or seen her prior to the collision.
