Two arrests after 56-year-old woman dies in fatal collision

TWO people have been arrested after a woman died in a road accident in Aston this morning.

TWO people have been arrested after a woman died in a road accident in Aston.

A 44-year-old Sheffield man and a woman, aged 46 and from Aston, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on Tuesday morning and remain in police custody as police enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "We were called shortly after 6.40am to reports of a collision involving a black Ford Puma and a pedestrian on Mansfield Road in Aston.

"Officers attended alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service and sadly a woman, aged 56, was pronounced dead at the scene."

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the collision to come forward.

In particular, they want to speak to anyone on Mansfield Road at the time who may have witnessed the collision, anyone with CCTV cameras that cover Mansfield Road that may have caught the collision, or those who may have been driving past in their vehicle who may have footage of the collision on their dash camera.
