Road closures as A57 heads for the finish

MOTORISTS using the A57 are being warned of fresh disruption as the massive overhaul of a former accident blackspot nears its end.

Goosecarr Lane at Todwick will be closed at the junction of the new A57 until the middle of February next year.

Traffic will run on the new northern carriageway of the A57, allowing for the removal of the remaining temporary crossovers and the final sections of the road to be completed.

A council spokeswoman said further disruption could be expected after the Goosecarr Lane closure but this should be mainly restricted to evening and nighttime work.

Work started on the improvement scheme — a 1.5 mile section between the Todwick crossroads and Junction 31 of the M1 motorway — last September.

Ringway Infrastructure Services Ltd is carrying out the £14.7 million contract for Rotherham Borough Council and is expected to complete the scheme by the end of February.
