Public meeting tomorrow as campaign to save Doncaster Sheffield Airport continues

A PUBLIC meeting to discuss the future of Doncaster Sheffield Airport is set to take place tomorrow as “crunch talks” continue.

South Yorkshire mayor Oliver Coppard will be hosting the event at Doncaster Rovers’ Eco Power Stadium at 6pm tomororw at 6pm in response to operator Peel’s decision to review the viability of the airport.

Don Valley MP Nick Fletcher (pictured) has pledged to attend the meeting in the Legends Lounge and said he was willing to work with Mr Coppard on the issue after making previous statements that he should be doing more to save the airport.

Mr Fletcher said: “Regional airports have a huge role to play in this. They help spread our wealth far and wide across our country.

“They are widely regarded as a key economic driver for the regional economy.

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is no exception. It is the key to a prosperous future.

“We must build a strong local economy. I look forward to working with Oliver to that end over the coming years.”

Mr Coppard is urging people to attend the event so they can voice their suggestions, ideas and thoughts about the future of DSA.

He will also provide an update from his own discussions with politicians and MPs on the issue.

A petition to save DSA from closure has reached more than 83,000 signatures.
