Police confirm bus interchange death was man in his 50s

A MAN has died after falling to his death at the town centre bus interchange.

The incident happened around 1pm near to the Frederick Street area on Monday.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said the man was in his 50s and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Brandon Jones, a spokesman for First Bus, said one of the access runs in the interchange was closed from 1pm to 3pm due to the incident.

He said: “We had to put in place some alternative stopping points as soon as we were aware.

“There was some disruption and we are grateful for customers patience.”
