Motorists warned of four nights of closures for M1 in Rotherham

MOTORISTS using the motorway network through Rotherham this week are being warned of several nights of roadworks.

The northbound carriageway of the M1 between junction 31 (Aston) and junction 32 (Thurcroft) will be fully closed overnight for four nights from tonight (Tuesday) for carriageway repairs.

The southbound exit slip road for junction 35 of the M1 at Thorpe Hesley will also be fully closed overnight for four nights from tonight (Tuesday), also for carriageway repairs.

The southbound entry slip road will be closed overnight for two nights from Thursday.

Highways England said the closure would take place between 8pm and 6am, and drivers would be able to follow clearly signed diversion routes.

The northbound carriageway of the A631 Tinsley Viaduct remains closed until November for maintenance work.

The round-the-clock closure means drivers will be diverted on to the service road and HGV drivers will be directed onto a signed diversion route.
