HIGHWAYS bosses thanked motorists for their patience after the completion of a scheme aimed at cutting congestion.

The Highways Agency said work at junction 33 of the M1 would improve vehicle capacity, aid traffic flow and raise safety levels.

To ensure these schemes ware completed with as little disruption to drivers as possible, most of the work took place overnight.

Bus service delivery team leader, Roger Wantling, said: “We would like to thank drivers for their patience while the work was being carried out.

“Drivers will now experience a reduction in congestion and delays around these two important junctions.

“The work should also improve road safety and contribute to a reduction in accidents in the areas.”

The scheme is also part of a major programme of work being delivered by the Highways Agency across the Yorkshire and Humber motorway region.
