Motorists face double traffic problems

MOTORISTS face double misery on roads around Rotherham this morning.

A broken-down lorry and a vehicle on fire caused saw two lanes to be closed closed on the sounthbound M18, while the traffic lights at Whiston crossroads also malfunctioned, causing further disruption.

The lorry was still being recovered at 10.30am this morning from the motorway between junction 32 - the M1 interchange - and junction 1, with queues going back to junction 3.

At Whiston, a traffic light failure also caused queuing traffic, with the Highways Agency warning people to approach the scene with care.

Congestion was far back as Brecks roundabout at 10.30am.
