M18 to close for overnight works

MOTORWAY users have been warned to steer clear of overnight road works on the M18, or face detours of between seven and eight miles.

Resurfacing works between junctions four and three of the motorway’s southbound carriageway will be taking place from 9pm and 6am between November 10 and 21.

Highways Agency project manager Steven Wright said: “During the overnight closures we will resurface the carriageway and replace road markings and road studs.

“To make maximum use of the closures and reduce the need for future work in the area we will also carry out a variety of maintenance inspections and work.

“During the closures diversion routes will be clearly signed and drivers should allow extra time when travelling in the area.”

The diversions put in place to guide motorists around the road works will take most motorists along a detour of around seven miles.

Drivers of high-sided vehicles will be required to take a slightly longer route for the duration of the works.
