Have your say on bus cuts
The public meetings will give the mayor the chance to discuss the impact of bus cuts and rising fares on communities with the passengers enduring them.
The county-wide events arrangements and venues are as follows:
Consort Hotel in Thurcroft from 6pm next Wednesday, August 23.
Sheffield Hallam University’s Charles Street Building at 10am on Monday, August 21.
St John’s Community Centre, Church Street, Penistone at 6pm next Monday, August 21.
Auckley Parish Centre St Saviours Church, Doncaster at 6pm on Tuesday, August 22.
Mr Coppard said: “I’m angry that we have seen South Yorkshire’s bus services get a fraction of the funding given to other places across our country.
“And while the government promised us levelling-up, in reality the bus network in our region is broken.
“I’m doing everything I can to get the government to give us a fair funding deal, because bus services are vital.
“As fewer people get the bus, and bus companies cut more services, we are forced to step-in and pay for more and more services.
“If you would like to add your voice to our campaign for a fair funding deal for public transport in South Yorkshire, please join me.”
