First in price freeze

FIRST Bus company has taken the decision to freeze many of its ticket prices as part of an annual price review.

South Yorkshire savers, child tickets and the £1 adult single fare are among the tickets frozen in the review, but a Rotherham network-wide daily ticket is set to increase by 10p, a weekly ticket by 50p and the monthly ticket by £2 from March 28.

First still maintain that many of their tickets are cheaper than they were three years ago, including the FirstDay ticket (£4.60 vs £4), FirstWeek ticket (£17 vs £14).

Customers currently buying a FirstMonth ticket at £50 currently can also avoid any increase at the end of March by switching to buying their monthly ticket via their mobile.

Ben Gilligan, managing director of First in South Yorkshire said: “Despite having to absorb increasing costs, I’m very pleased that we've been able to hold the prices of many fares.

“I appreciate nobody likes it when prices go up but we have worked hard to keep any increases to a minimum.

“Our aim in 2015 is to continue to give value-for-money to our customers and to build upon the customer growth we have delivered over the last two years working together in the Rotherham Bus Partnership.”
