Top young traders in line for awards

DANCE studios, fishing bait suppliers and cake shops are all in the running for awards recognising Rotherham’s top young traders.

The finalists in this year’s Rotherham Youth Enterprise Awards were announced this week, with film festival organisers, a gift shop and a bathroom designer also among the nominees.

Part of the Rotherham Youth Enterprise (RYE) Project, which provides help and support to young business owners, the awards are run annually alongside UK Steel Enterprise, which helps to fund growing companies.

The prizes will be handed out at a ceremony at Magna on Monday (17).

The awards up for grabs are Best New Business Start-up, Most Established Business, Most Determined to Succeed and Most Innovative Business.

Darren McDool, business coach from Rotherham Youth Enterprise, said: “The calibre of the candidates that entered this year has been exceptional.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed reading the submissions and are privileged to have been invited to learn more about these businesses and these truly entrepreneurial young individuals in our region.”

The nominees are JL Dance Academy, marketing agency Infinity Digital, customisation company Koochie Koo Customisation, gift shop Patchwork Pig, hair salons House of S and GSK Hair Lounge, bathroom design firm 4 Ever Able Ltd, film events firm The Screening Project, technology suppliers Adspec Ltd, bait supplier RG Baits, vehicle equipmnt company Response Vehicle Lighting and vintag tea shop   Sally Shortcake.
