Teenager suffers serious head injuries in suspected assault

POLICE are appealing for information after a 16-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury.

The boy’s friend raised the alarm at around 2.15am on Tuesday, November 11 and police believe it may be connected to “suspicious activity on Hartley Street” in Mexborough.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said the teenager had sustained a serious head injury requiring hospital treatment.

She added: “Officers are keen to establish the circumstances surrounding the boy’s injuries, but are currently treating the incident as a suspected assault.”

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Hartley Street area, or who may have information, is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 50 of November 11. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
