Teenager stabbed at Rotherham College

A TEENAGER was injured after he was stabbed at Rotherham College.

The 16-year-old boy was assaulted at about 12.50pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said the teenager’s injuries, which are believed to have been caused by a knife, are thought to be minor.

Eastwood Lane in Rotherham was closed between the Howard Street and Wharncliffe Street junctions.

A witness claimed the incident involved a number of youths.

Police taped off the area and diverted cars away from the scene but staff and students were still able to access the college.

An investigation has begun to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. 

Eastwood Lane remains closed while officers carry out enquiries in the area.

A Yorkshire Air Ambulance spokeswoman said its helicopter was called but the boy was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
