Taxi drivers face court costs bills over licenses decisions

TAXI drivers who challenged decisions to revoke their licenses but lost their appeals must now pay Rotherham Borough Council’s court costs.

Gohear Ahmed, of Howarth Crescent owes £450 costs after his appeal at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court failed last Monday.

Ibrar Adalat, of Milton Road and Gul Mohammed, of Broom Valley Road must each pay £600 after their challenges also failed in court.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Sabir of Sheffield was ordered to pay £750 costs at the same session.

Other drivers are still due to appear over their license challenges.

Wajad Hussain, of Gerrard Road, will find out about possible costs on July 26, while Sakhawat Ali, of Far Field Road, will find out on September 9.
