A SNAPSHOT of life for Rotherham’s teenagers reveals many are drinking, smoking and taking drugs, five out six are too frightened to go into the town centre and others are victims of bullying.

Police and Rotherham Council say they will take action on the findings of the 2012 Lifestyle Survey for Secondary Schools.

The survey shows that 83 per cent of 11-15-year-olds feel unsafe when waiting for buses or trains, while 79 per cent feel threatened when riding on them.

Police say the crime statistics do not bear out their fears, but say they will attempt to tackle the perception of danger.

They also say they are working hard to keep them safe from illegal substances.
