Strongmen battle it out in Rotherham

THERE’S no chance of these powerhouses putting their feet up in middle age...

Thirteen strongmen aged 40 and over battled it out in a series of gruelling challenges at the Yorkshire Masters Strongest Man 2015 in Rotherham last weekend.

Car carrying, log lifts and dead lift tests pushed the muscle-bound competitors to their limits at the Phoenix Gym in Brinsworth before internationally-renowned Rob Titchfield-Power Frampton came out on top.

Among the awesome achievements notched up were a 440kg dead lift and a 360kg car being carried 15 metres in 13 seconds.

Organiser Martin Barraclough, from East Herringthorpe, was delighted to come in third and keep one of the top trophies in his hometown.

He put his success down to training five days a week and packing plenty of protein into his seven meals a day.

Dale Peters, who came second, was sixth in the world masters so it’s great to be competing with people on that level,” said Martin.
