Sterecycle closes as bid to find buyer fails

TROUBLED Rotherham recycling firm Sterecycle has closed its doors for good.

Most of the ninety staff were made redundant last month, but the remaining 16 have now been axed after administrators were unable to buyer for the firm.

The Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Waste Partnership cancelled its contract with the firm, insisting that it had done all it could to help Sterecycle, but had no choice as the terms of the deal were not been met.

Sterecycle recycled household waste into a compost-like substance using pressurised steam in a device called an autoclave at its Templeborough plant.
