Stagecoach bus drivers planning more action

BUS drivers working for Stagecoach will walk out on strike again on Friday and Saturday in their dispute over pay—with more strikes to come.

Stagecoach Yorkshire says it will again run a “near-normal” level of service in Rotherham and the Dearne Valley between 7am and 6pm.

More than 100 managers and supervisors have been drafted in to keep vehicles on the road.

The tactic, which was used earlier this month, sparked anger from the drivers’ Unite union, which accused Stagecoach of strike breaking.

Company boss Paul Lynch said several pay offers had been made and rejected.

The union has announced its members plan to take strike action again on January 4 and 16 next year.
