Stagecoach bus drivers plan new walk-out

BUS drivers working for Stagecoach will walk out on strike today and tomorrow in their dispute over pay.

Stagecoach Yorkshire says it will again run a “near-normal” level of service in the Dearne Valley as drivers strike again.

More than 100 managers and supervisors have been drafted in to keep vehicles on the road.

The tactic, which was used earlier this month, sparked anger from the drivers’ Unite union, which accused Stagecoach Yorkshire of strike breaking.

Company boss Paul Lynch said several pay offers had been made and rejected. He added: “Our efforts are now focused on making sure the majority of passengers are not affected by the strike action with a robust contingency timetable.”
