SLIDESHOW: Tour de Yorkshire inspires scary show

YOU couldn’t get away from the Tour de Yorkshire spirit at the weekend — the great race even inspired the winning entry in an annual scarecrow contest.

Creative John and Jackie Irwin dreamed up and oversaw production of the impressive Tour de Horsepower, portraying an artist beginning to paint a lifesize piebald horse with an in the blue and yellow colours of the Tour.

On the day when dozens of world class riders travelled through the town, the scarecrow scene-cum-sculpture romped home from a field of more than 60 to take the top prize in the 2016 Tickhill Scarecrow Festival on Saturday.
