Singing plumber Paul taps into NHS goodwill

SINGING plumber Paul Ballington has been making the most of his time away from the copper pipes by using his own “pipes” to make music saluting the NHS.

The song — “Protect our NHS” — says a thank you to all NHS workers and highlights the work that is being carried out every day by nurses, carers, porters, doctors, security staff, paramedics and everyone else in between.

The light-hearted but emotional song thanks all front-line and key workers for their ongoing bravery and shines a light on how special they are, as well as reinforcing the message of staying at home. Its video features photographs of NHS staff.

Paul, who appealed for people to send in their photos to use in the clip, said: “It has been amazing. I received hundreds of photos from people wanting to be involved and help spread the word about the wonderful work the NHS are doing.

“It was very emotional to hear people’s stories.”

Paul (41) has been writing songs on and off for 18 years, starting with little ditties and birthday songs for friends and family.

More recently he has begun writing tailor made songs for any occasion such as birthdays and weddings, surprising brides and grooms with his funny lyrics on their big day.

Paul (right) added: “I have written many songs for different charities, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to use my platform to pen one for the NHS.

“It’s my aim to bring a few smiles and laughs to our amazing NHS workers and hopefully try and give something back by raising money for these amazing people.”
